To see our FULL eDNA report, check the link in our bio to head to our website, where it is published under the News tab!The Shortnose Sturgeon (Acipenser brevirostrum) is the fish featured on our new logo! In Canada, it is only known to be in the Wolastoq River system. Females can live up to 70 years old and reach 1.2 meter lengths!Sturgeon have rows of bony plates called scutes! These may be sharp to the touch.Their caudal fins have larger upper lobes, bearing a resemblance to a shark. Worry not, these unrelated giants are bottom feeders! They are known to jump though, so watch out.#fish #NewBrunswick #environmentalDNA #nature #conservation ... See MoreSee Less

To see our FULL eDNA report, check the link in our bio to head to our website, where it is published under the News tab!The Ninespine Stickleback (Pungitius pungitius), is also refered to as the Ten-Spined Stickleback, as it does not necessarily have nine spines; the number ranges from eight to twelve. Nine is the most common amount. The spines are defensive, and can make these tiny fish hard to swallow for predators. The males perform parental care, guarding and tending to the eggs until they hatch. While both Sticklebacks, the Fourspine Stickleback is in different genus than the Ninespine.#fish #NewBrunswick #environmentalDNA #nature #conservation ... See MoreSee Less
