On August 20, we did another Eurasian Water Milfoil survey! Our EWM surveys were possible with the support of Wildlife Habitat Canada. One of our biggest challenges this year has been the weather. We do not go out on paddleboards when the wind speed exceeds 15km/h. Because of this, we surveyed Newcastle Creek in the evening. It was a rush to scour the shoreline before it was too dark to see the plants!Huge thanks to Kim for her help on the survey!Sound fun?Want in?If you have your own kayak or paddleboard and you want to learn more about surveying Grand Lake for Eurasian Water Milfoil, contact us for future workshops around the Lake.#newbrunswick #invasivespecies #grandlakenb #newcastlecreeknb #mintonb #eurasianwatermilfoil #WildlifeHabitatCanada ...

When visiting a site, we don’t just take water samples and readings with our field meter. We also make observations on how the site has changed from month to month, whether there are fish there, any human activity, the weather, and more. This puts our data into context and provides records on what is normal for each site. When doing field surveys, it is extremely important to stay aware of your surroundings. We encountered a Black Bear in Newcastle Creek!Once again, thank you to Dieter for his assistance! And a round of applause for our outgoing Project Coordinator Alyson for leading all of the field days since last summer!Stay tuned and become a member (link in bio) for upcoming workshops and further updates!#conservation #freshwater #newbrunswick #fishNB #jemsegNB #mintoNB #chipmanNB #GrandLakeNB #ArcadiaNB #nature ...
