An unspecified species of Pearl Dace (Margariscus sp.) was detected. This was likely to be the Northern Pearl Dace (Margariscus nachtriebi) given the native ranges of that and the other known Margariscus species, the Allegheny Pearl Dace (Margariscus margarita), which is not known to live in New Brunswick. Both images are Northern Pearl Dace.![]()

The Lake Chub (Couesius plumbeus) has the northernmost distribution of all North American Minnows. This is also the likely identity of the unspecified Couesius species on the eDNA report.![]()
They prefer cold-water lakes and streams with gravel on the bottom.![]()
They have small barbels at the sides of their mouths, and fairly good hearing compared to other freshwater fish. The large optic lobes of its brain suggest that they have good eyesight as well!![]()
