Education

With COVID-19 preventing us from face-to-face meetings and workshops, we were fortunate to be able to change tack to take advantage of the Zoom online communication platform.  Zoom supports both online meetings and webinars, as well as enabling simultaneous audio-video recording of webinar presentations.  Members and supporters without adequate internet access are, unfortunately, not able to participate in our monthly meetings or webinars.  If you know of a member without adequate internet access, please let us know using our contact page.  We will make every effort to share with them information on our educational activities and projects.

To see our FULL eDNA report, check the link in our bio to head to our website, where it is published under the News tab! There was a reading for an unspecified Cyprinidae in Maquapit Lake. With so many subfamilies, consisting of many small, difficult-to-identify fish, there are many possible identities for which one left the DNA.It may be a fish known to live in the lake; perhaps even one already mentioned here, on a report, or not known to be in this lake at all. Perhaps it was a bait fish, here from another lake. Carp and Minnows are also common aquarium pets. The sample was either incomplete, or from a species not included in the database.Next time you see a minnow, take a closer look! Maybe you’ll find something new!#fish #newbrunswick #environmentalDNA #nature #conservation ... See MoreSee Less

To see our FULL eDNA report, check the link in our bio to head to our website, where it is published under the News tab!An unspecified species of Pearl Dace (Margariscus sp.) was detected. This was likely to be the Northern Pearl Dace (Margariscus nachtriebi) given the native ranges of that and the other known Margariscus species, the Allegheny Pearl Dace (Margariscus margarita), which is not known to live in New Brunswick. Both images are Northern Pearl Dace.#fish #newbrunswick #environmentalDNA #nature #Conservation ... See MoreSee Less
