Petitcodiac Watershed Educational Resource

August 13, 2026

The Petitcodiac Watershed Alliance has created a free educational web game that helps teachers explore watershed and stormwater topics with their students.

The game includes teacher and student guides and is based on their Watershed and Sewershed Educational Resource.

Students can compare green vs. not-so-green neighbourhood designs and even build their own rain gardens! The game can be accessed here, and can be played in French or English.

To get started, make an account on the Troubadour platform. From there, you can add assignments to your, your child’s, or your students’ virtual Bulletin Board. The activities encourage the learner to set up and describe scenes using their own words and digital props.

The accompanying guides provide direction and explanations on the impacts the objects they place have on their world, reflecting the choices they may one day make as professionals and landowners. CBC News reported Project Leader Vanessa Leclair as saying “It can give them a little bit more hope and certainty that what they’re doing can actually make an impact.” Read the full CBC article here for more on the story and purpose behind this project.

Water testing for July has been conducted! Our field meter lets us know many things about the water conditions, right on site. Many water parameters are often correlated with each other; turbidity affects temperature, temperature affects oxygen, and more. But these associations can not be used to accurately predict data. That is why we need the field meter! Not only were we monitoring the water parameters... we were paying close attention to what was living in the water! Check out our pictures to see some of the things we found!Huge thanks to Dieter for his help, use of his boat, and sharing his know-how with us!Stay tuned and become a member (link in bio) for upcoming workshops and further updates!#Conservation #freshwater #newbrunswick #FishNB #jemsegnb #mintonb #ChipmanNB #grandlakenb #arcadianb #nature ...
