8:00 pm – 9:00 pm
March 14, 2024

Join us for the very interesting and informative free Zoom webinar entitled "Testing for Cyanotoxins" on Thursday, March 14, 2024 starting at 8:00 pm Atlantic time. The webinar is being presented by Colin Forsythe, Executive Director of the Belleisle Watershed Coalition. Learn how Colin and his team have responded to potential cyanobacteria sightings over the past three years.  Cyanotoxin testing can help determine if water like that shown below is safe for swimming and pets.  More details and a link to the webinar are available at bit.ly/3HPDdlY .

To see our FULL eDNA report, check the link in our bio to head to our website, where it is published under the News tab!Our other potential Salmonid source for our unknown DNA is the Lake Whitefish (Coregonus clupeaformis). They are more distantly related than Salmon, Trout, Char, and Taimen are to each other, and are recorded to be in Grand Lake.Salmonids are one of the orders of fish who have adipose fins; a smaller fin on the back between the dorsal fin and the tail.Adipose fins are sometimes deliberately clipped to mark fish for identification.#fish #newbrunswick #environmentalDNA #nature #conservation ... To see our FULL eDNA report, check the link in our bio to head to our website, where it is published under the News tab!The eDNA test picked up traces of a Salmonid species. Perhaps this was an Atlantic Salmon or Brook Trout, but there are a couple of other possibilities identified by the most recent reports from the Department of Natural Resources and Energy Development... The Brown Trout (Salmo trutta) is one of them! It is the most widely distributed species in the Salmo genus. Originally ranging through parts of Europe, Asia, and Africa, it is invasive here in North America.#fish #newbrunswick #environmentalDNA #nature #conservation ... See MoreSee Less
