EWM has been present in Youngs Cove for several years. This is likely due to fragments of plants both drifting in, and hitching a ride on boats coming in and out of the water there.![]()

We surveyed along the shore from the Community Wharf to the mouth of the Cove, marking points using handheld GPS units.![]()

Comparing these points with those of previous and future surveys will allow us to better understand the rate and amount of spread we may expect from EWM.![]()

Join our Adopt-a-Shoreline Program and help survey for invasive species along the shorelines of Grand Lake!![]()

We are looking for passionate volunteers who:![]()
✅ Have access to their own kayak or paddleboard![]()
✅ Are available for a training session from 6-8 pm Sunday August 9 (Wind/rain date to be Determined)![]()
✅ Are interested in conservation and protecting native ecosystems![]()

What you'll do:![]()
• Paddle along a designated shoreline section![]()
• Identify and report invasive aquatic plants, like eurasian water milfoil![]()
• Help preserve the natural health of our lake![]()
*Training includes identification skills, data collection tips, and gear guidance![]()

No prior experience needed, just a love for the water and nature!![]()
